From US Rt 1 at Bath, Maine (northbound) Take the ME-209/HIGH ST. ramp toward Phippsburg. Turn right onto ME-209/High St. Continue to follow ME-209. 11.3 miles. Stay straight to go onto ME-216.
From US Rt 1 at Bath, Maine (southbound) Take the ME-209/Phippsburg exit from the Sagadahoc Bridge. Turn left at the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp. Turn left on to Washington St at the next stoplight. Continue on Washington Street until it ends. Turn Left on ME-209/High St. Continue to follow ME-209. 10 miles. Stay straight to go onto ME-216.
For visitors who just want to "drop in" to see the area, the privately-owned Head Beach is open to the public, for a small parking fee. There is also a general store behind the Head Beach sand dunes. Turn right at the Hermit Island Campgrounds turn-off just after you enter the 25MPH speed limit zone near the end of ME-216.
